Sam Jenkins

Assistant Leader

Sam is a professional tenor based in London and was lucky to be introduced to choral music from a young age when he was selected to be a chorister at Guildford Cathedral. Since then he has been a teacher and musical leader for a number of schools and choirs, assisting with Eton Choral Courses, the National Youth Choir of Scotland, Hereford Cathedral School, and St Mary’s Music School in Edinburgh.

As a performer Sam enjoys a busy schedule of consort, solo and opera work both in the U.K. and abroad, mostly recently returning from a touring production of Handel’s Acis and Galatea in the Netherlands with BarokOpera Amsterdam. He is currently studying at the Royal College of Music.

Sam also holds a Masters in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh and is a keen sportsman, having played school football to a high level and represented Scottish Universities internationally in water polo.

LYC Assistant Leaders provide pastoral care at all rehearsals and concerts and support the conducting team by leading warm ups and taking sectional rehearsals.
