Beky Jones

Assistant Leader (Girls’ Choir)

Beky is a professional mezzo soprano and singing teacher who has been an Assistant Leader with LYC for 18 months. Beky has worked in various capacities with young people, including at the DRET Choral Courses and the International Youth Choir Festival. She is a peripatetic singing teacher at the Falcon’s School for Girls, Putney and St Dunstan’s College, Catford. She has been a practitioner with Voces Cantabile Music for two years, and regularly works with the Training choir of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain. She was also a Fellow of the NYCGB in its inaugural year (2015-16). As well as working with young people on a regular basis, Beky sings professionally with groups including the BBC Singers, Siglo de Oro, Philharmonia Voices and The Sixteen. Beky will be taking up a place to study for an MMus at the Royal College of Music in September with a view to pursuing a career in opera.

LYC Assistant Leaders provide pastoral care at all rehearsals and concerts and support the conducting team by leading warm ups and taking sectional rehearsals.
