In March 2017, London Youth Choir are delighted to be joining with partners, Gabrieli, for a concert celebrating the senior choristers of LYC. The first half of the programme will include a selection of exceptional music performed by the London Youth Senior and Chamber Choirs, including Rheinberger’s Morgenlied and Abendlied and Rachmaninov Bogoroditse Dyevo. These stunning young voices will be joined in the second half of the programme by soloists from the Gabrieli Consort and their period instrument orchestra directed by Paul McCreesh, for a performance of Haydn’s last major work, his exuberant Harmoniemesse.
For over 30 years Gabrieli, with Artistic Director Paul McCreesh, have surprised, challenged and inspired audiences with world-renowned interpretations of great vocal and instrumental repertoire from the Renaissance to the present day. Gabrieli Roar, their unique choral training scheme, stands apart from other education projects by putting the inclusion of young singers at the heart of Gabrieli’s core activity. This is driven by McCreesh’s desire to offer teenagers the opportunity to excel by performing side-by-side with Gabrieli’s professional musicians.
